RCA 20F514TD not digital friendly
Pros
OK for a DVD player only.
Cons
The engineering for Tuner/QAM technology did not have the foresight for a non-analog environment.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
RCA should have stuck with the old technology, they missed the
boat on digital tuners.
boat on digital tuners.
I bought this TV/DVD player @ Wal*Mart about a year ago and
was quite satisfied with the unit until the day Comcast switched to
all digital in June. From that day on this unit has been a nightmare. Whenever the unit is powered on it immediately displays a "no signal found" condition. Eventually, after depressing the analog/digital button several times, turning it off and on a couple of more times, selecting tall he mode a few times (also disconnecting the input from the cable several times) it may work, however, no pattern to this insanity is finite. Selecting and resetting the channel search sometimes works and sometimes make it worse. Overall, after around about a half hour or so it will come on, but gets worse the next time its powered on, also sometimes during channel search it gets confused so badly it cannot be powered off unless I pull the plug out of the wall socket!!??!! I have connected several TVs (some as aged as 20 years) to the cable input and they work 100% of the time. Every cable port I move this unit..same problem..100% of the time..I won't even go into my earlier ordeals when I thought it wasn't the TV.. and replaced cables, connections and adapters. So overall I would rate this TV as a big 0 on a 1-10 scale, however, it plays DVD's pretty well.
