The Bottom Line:
This is a great stereo for your bedroom, office, or small den. It?s got all the necessary features and is still very affordable.
I bought the RCA RS2654 about a month ago and I have been very happy with it. It was a little ominous when the first unit I bought was damaged and I had to take it back, but the second one I received great. To get the only functional problem out of the way, I've noticed that, once in a while, the stereo will have power (the clock is visible) but won't turn on either with the remote or on the stereo itself. However, the manual lists the problem in its troubleshooting guide, and simply unplugging the unit for a few seconds and plugging it back in solves the problem... and like I said it seldom happens.
Anyway, I bought this stereo because I wanted a decent one for my bedroom... nothing too large but with all the options and a good amount of power. The most important part of the stereo to most people is probably the CD player. This one has a five-disk capacity, tray loaded, and allows four of the disks to be exchanged while one plays. The bottom of the unit has indicator lights per each disk bay, to let you know how many are loaded. The CD player will accept burned CDs with WMA and MP3 files, and has the basic options such as random playback, intro play, multi-disc song programming, etc.
The radio, fed by two external antennas, is also loaded with the necessary features. It features 32 preset stations (most people probably only use 8 or 10), manual digital tuning, and seek mode.
In addition to the standard 2.5mm headphone jack, it also includes an aux input, which allows you to connect your TV, game console, MP3 player, satellite radio receiver, computer, or many other things. This is becoming a norm in stereo systems these days. Unfortunately, this system didn't include the USB port that some newer stereos have. That allows you to directly connect any USB MP3 player and run it from the stereo.
This stereo also has some advanced sound features, such as Bass Boost, a mute button on the remote, and a basic equalizer. The equalizer comes with the preset settings: flat, rock, pop, jazz, class, and custom (allowing you to adjust it to your preference).
The remote is another benefit. While it is a little cluttered, just about every feature on this stereo can be accessed from the remote.
For Some Specs:
Power Supply: 120V ~ 60HZ
Power Consumption: 200 Watts
Unit Size: 12.3(height)x 12(width)x 15.9(depth)
Speaker: 13 x 9.4 x 8.1
CD Player: Response curve ( /- 2dB): 60Hz to 5kHz
