The last RCA I buy
Pros
The sound is OK after it actually turns on.
Cons
Unplug it and then plug it in when you want it to work. That's safe!
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I would never buy another RCA product EVER AGAIN. I only wrote this review to WARN OTHERS.
I bought this shelf unit for my garage and to also send music out to the pool area.
I spedn a lot of time in my garage, so I was looking for something decent, just not Denon decent. It's getting harder and harder to find a quality unit...anywhere!
I bought this at Best Buy using some of my rewards cash and got a good price on it. It was the best shelf unit they carried, unless I bought separate components like Denon....too much money.
After a few months ( 4?) it wouldn't turn on with the power button. I called Thompson Electronics (RCA) and they KNOW it's a problem and asked it I can unplug it and plug it inwhen I wanted to turn it on. THAT was their fix!! I told them NO, I cannot reach the plug everyone time to do that. They agreed to take it back if I paid the shipping...half the cost of the unit to simply get a reman unit back.
Well, I decided not to do that and I use a surge protector and just turn the switch on and off.
The sound is of decent quality for a small shelf unit, but I'd pay double if Panasonic made a similar unit.
What happened to quality electronics?? Oh yea...Panasonic stopped making them.
