My personal experiences
Pros
I like the large flat screen but...
Cons
The built in DVD player is unreliable
Recommended it?
No
I've had this particular model for several years.
I like the large flat screen but...
I find more and more of the commercial DVDs I rent or purchase will not work in the built in DVD player, in spite of the fact that it is a fairly new system. I have another pure DVD player attached to another TV in the house which has no problems whatsoever in playing these DVDS.
I also find the remote unit to be quirky at best, as though the button presses are sometimes recognized and other times not. (Yes, I've changed batteries and no, there are no smokers in the house to gum up the contact points.)
I occasionally have to 'power down' the TV set and restart it so that I can get the CD player drawer to open (to remove a DVD)
All my older (than 3 years) DVDs work fine in this DVD player. It is just some the newer ones, first noticed with "The Raid" that are driving me nuts.
