I really love this little video camera from RCA. When we were shopping for a new video camera we were looking for 3 things; price, size and extra features. This camera met our requirements and more!
We needed a camera that was cheap! We have broken 3 video cameras in 10 years all by dropping them. When we went shopping for our 4th camera the first question I always asked the sales person was, ?Do you have a camera that won?t break when it is dropped?? Their answer was always, ?No? and then they gave me a really weird look. What kind of irresponsible person drops a video camera?!!! Well, one that likes to video tape two toddlers playing with their rabbit and new kitten while scrambling eggs and answering the phone!! We?ve all been there, haven?t we?
Since they have not invented a non-destructible video camera for people like me (and my husband, but he won?t admit that he was responsible for breaking one of them) we decided that it was best to get a camera that could do the job and be easily replaced at the same time. My home owners insurance has already paid for one dropped camera, I don?t think they will pay for another. This RCA camera was only $395.00 at Wal-mart.
The best price camera on the market at the time (about 1 year ago).
Our objective was to capture our children?s lives on tape so we can go back and enjoy them later. We love to watch these video over and over. We needed a light weight camera we could take on family trips and not whine over the bulk. This camera weighs under 5 pounds. We love to take it with us wherever we go, it is small and fits in a small shoulder bag. And, if it gets stolen we are only out $395.00 not thousands of dollars.
This camera has plenty of features that make video taping easy and fun. It has a built - in convenience feature that automatically focuses on. and adjusts to the available light. It also has 9 recording options that make it easy for you to create unique videos; sports, frontlight, haze, shadow, auto, manual, back light, high speed shutter and Sepia. We have used the sepia option while video taping our family acting out Bible stories. We recently did a family production of the Good Samaritan to show in a Sunday School Class my husband teaches, the sepia option makes the video look really old fashioned.
Another fun option that this camera has is the high speed shutter which we used to tape a claymation movie in my cub scout den. We made clay animals and people and put on a little play which I videoed to look like they were moving. This camera has a titleing system so you can put a title on the recording too.
This video camera is in the VHS-C format where you use small tapes that then pop into a larger adapter that fits in a VCR. The VHS-C videos hold about 90 minutes of recording and cost about 3.00 a tape. The camera has a 22 x Power Zoom lens so you can capture events happening far away.
We have always been pleased with the end result of this camera, the pictures are always clear and bright. Surprisingly it takes good videos even in a dark area! The quality of the sound is not as good as it could be. But this is o.k. as long as you are not taping a musical event.
This camera has really fit our needs. You don?t need to spend a ton of money to be able to own a video camera to capture all of lifes special occasions. When you have children you really can not live with out a
