The Bottom Line:
All you really need in a camcorder, easy to use, and at a good price.
We purchased our camcorder a year ago and have used it quite frequently for several different things, from Christmas concerts to our tropical honeymoon.
It's one of the cheaper cameras on the market, but the sound quality is good, and we have no complaints with the picture either. The VHS-C tapes are great and can be popped into your converter and straight into your VCR. There are several options such as fancy fade-ins etc. which we never use. The battery recharges quickly. It's a great little camera for basic everyday use.
We had the occasional problem with it on our honeymoon, when it sometimes steamed up when exposed to temperature changes (eg. from an air-conditioned room out into the heat of the day) and it had to be shut down and restarted after a few minutes. It's also a little heavy and clunky to carry around for long periods of time compared to the more compact models.
The auto-focus gets confused by lights at night, so we can't use it for filming our campfire gatherings or our Christmas lights.
