The Bottom Line:
I love this set! For the price it will last until wide-screens are reasonably priced, and you will love it too!!
This projection TV has the best looking picture on the floor. Compare it next to the bottom line Sony, which costs at least $500 more, and the choice is clear.
The RCA 52" projection TV has a beautiful picture, and an awesome price to back it up. The corners are crisp, and it supports HD-TV, with a receiver of course.
I hooked up my Sony NSP-700 DVD player to it with component cables - Monster Video 2 cables, and it was quite a spectacle! Progressive scan DVDs on this set are just gorgeous! I encourage everyone to compare this set next to the other box projection sets in the store.
If you have HD-TV, or the store you view it in is connected to HD, the picture is even more impressive.
Why go BOL (bottom of the line) widescreen for $2500-$3000 when you can have a set like this for under $1500?! You have to be crazy to do that! This looks just the same and costs much less. Give the wide screens time to come down in price where they belong.
The sound is OK, but who uses TV sound anymore? Get a receiver and a surround sound system. You can pick up a nice 5.1 sony set w/ receiver for around $250.
The only thing I don't like is that there is only one component input, so if you have a nice receiver that switches component video, this won't be a problem.
The plastic around it is a little flimsy, so just take care of it and it will last -- hey, they had to cut down somewhere for prices like this.
