Get an Extended Warranty!
Pros
cost effective, good picture quality, TONS of A/V inputs and outputs
Cons
Lighting at certain angles was troublesome at times, costly to repair without warranty
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Great television set, but if/when it fails, dont bother repairing unless you are willing to spend several hundred (i.e., at least $500) on it.
I have a similar problem now as the previous writer...Had someone come by and look at it lase week...the cost is $1217 to repair (including labor)!!! Thats almost the amount that I paid for it!!
However, there is good news to this---Since I bought the tv from BEST BUY and got the EXTENDED WARRANTY, I wont have to pay for any it. In fact, since the cost is near the price I paid for it, the warranty states that I can go to the store and pick out another television--again free of charge. I believe my warranty was for 4 years, and I was also coming on the 3-year mark of having my television. I am frustrated that it happened but SOO glad that I got the warranty in the beginning. It was a couple hundred dollars extra, and I initially didnt want to get it because of that but thankfully I did. I'd advise everyone to get the warranty. You will be grateful if you find yourself in a situation like the ones I and the other writer encountered!
Side note: I adore BEST BUY and would advise anyone to get their electrical appliances as well as warranties from them. They do not keep you waiting and actually honor their warranties. They also have this thing in which if you have a problem with the product 3 times, they will automatically tell you to come to the store and get another product--new and for the exact price you paid for it (not the diminished or depreciated value). I've had that happen to me when I bought a car radio from them. I'm telling you, paying that extra money in the beginning for the warranty sucks, but it is well worth it! If I didnt, I'd have a 150lb paperweight as well.
