RCA DRC7005N DVD Recorder

I have a satellite receiver and I was aware that I would not have access to the program guide. No problem. My other equipment could send vcr like commands to the unit but I have not been able to program my other stuff (RCA Directv receiver and webtv) to talk to the DVR. All it needs is record/on/off.

The other problem is the s-video input. It does not seem to work at all. The manual seems to imply that only cable (coaxial) or composite video can drive the input but why is there an s-video connector?????

The DVR to satellite receiver is very slow and sometimes does not tune to the correct channel. However, it is easier and quicker to simply tune the satellite receiver directly. As long as there is no program guide the DVR unit really doesn't have much to say to anything. To program a show to be recorded, I need to program the time on the DVR, program the satellite receiver (a one touch program guide thing) and that's it. It could be easier, but not too bad.
