RCA DRC7005N DVD Recorder

I had been looking for a long time for a combo vcr/dvd player, but with vcr-plus, or some similiar programming features. I have digital cable, and had been very jealous of my friends TIVO recorder on his DirectTV. I was sick of fighting the tape battles, so I decided to take the plunge and started shopping for a reasonably priced dvr. I didn't like the time limits of the dvd recorders, and didn't see the need for burning tv show discs. After walking out the door of my best buy with a toshiba dvr in hand and over $500 out of pocket, I headed home and further checking out the reviews. I also began figuring out how to easily locate a phone jack that was required for the Toshiba's TIVO basic programming. While searching the reviews, I happened onto this RCA. I decided to take a chance, order it, and keep the Toshiba in the box. Boy was I happy that I took the time to look further. I LOVE this machine! Set-up is simple, programming is beyond simple, and connections a breeze. And best of all, I only paid $250 with rebate from buy.com, and received it it a week. I feel like I've discovered a hidden gem, and have been spreading the news to everyone who'll listen (I've never written one of these, but felt compelled to do so). The previous review does a good job of feature descriptions, and I agree completely. I'm still not sure how it downloads the schedules, as it does NOT require a phone line, but somehow downloads updates at night. Pretty cool.
