The Bottom Line:
If you can find one, and you are in need of a good alarm clock, buy it. Because for the price you aren't going to find anything like this.
When one thinks of what an alarm should do, a few things come to mind. Wake you up... plain and simple, and the RCA RP5400 does just that, it wakes you up. And there's nothing like the satisfaction of an alarm clock that functions effectively. I have used this clock for a number of years, and as both a high school and college student it has served my early-morning purposes just fine. In fact, this clock has been the only thing standing between my and lifetime of post-noon wake-uppery, and it has come in real handy for people on an A day B day schedule. It has two seperate timers for the alarm system, allowing the user to pick two times at which they would like to be woken up, depending on the day. It also has one of the best snooze functions I've ever seen, as well as a nap timer and FM/AM radio.
Like most radio/alarm clocks, the alarm function can be set to either a radio station or a pre-set noise, but what makes this clock stand apart is that the pre-set alarm noise grows in volume slowly, and is not nearly as obnoxious as other alarm noises out there. Another great thing about this clock is that it is loud. Not bust-your-eardrums loud, not destroy-my-house-and-family loud, but loud enough to wake up. And it is incredibly easy to use. The interface has taken a leap in clock interface technology by making use of the new age concept of 'simplicity'. Which means that unlike a good chunk of alarms out there, you don't need a PhD in clock mechanics to work one.
All in all a great purchase, if you can find one. As time has gone on these puppies have become outdated by later RCA models, leaving in them to the dust of time.
Anyway, good luck waking up, and have a nice day.
