Great Affordable Television
Pros
Price, Picture Quality, Guide Plus Gold, Universal remote
Cons
Sound system
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This Television is awesome. It is affordable and has excellent video quality and user options. Well worth the money.
I purchased this particular model of television form Future Shop in March for $425 Canadian Dollars. It was a sale price, and this particular model "F27649" was worth every penny. Other 27" television makes, like Sony and Hitachi, are more expensive, and the features are very similar.
Positive Features:
-Guide Plus Gold, this option unique to RCA is one of the best features, because it saves you time by providing an on-line Television guide, specific to your area, that you can adjust so you can see what is on just your favorite channels and not all of them. Also it allows you to quickly setup recording on your VCR, by selecting the show you want and pressing the 3 button on the remote control.
-Universal remote control. The remote control that comes with the Television allows you to also program two VCR's, DVD player, Sattlelite and your stereo system. I have found the remote to be very durable, dropping it many times off of the bed and still having no problems with it.
-The connections in the back, allow you to setup just about any video/audio setup. Currently I use the SVIDEO for my DVD player and I also have Dolby Digital 5.0 Surround sound attached to it as well.
-The picture quality of the television, is average, no better or worse than any other model of television. The resolution is very clear and sharp.
Negative Features:
-The sound quality from the television is about the only drawback. I found it was not as crisp and clear as other televisions I have owned. I have solved this problem by getting surround sound.
T.V. Buyer's Beware:
The last time I went shopping for televisions, I found out some very interesting things. Lines of Resolutions, something that sales people are willing to point out to you over and over again on high priced television models really mean nothing. If you are going to buy a television for the Picture in a Picture feature, don't waste your money. For the amount you pay for it, and amount of time you actually use it, makes it not worth the value.
Overall:
I am very pleased with this television. The value, ease of use, and reliability of it, makes it a very sound investment.
