Time for an upgrade.
Pros
Big Picture area, great for any room in the house.
Cons
Way to heavy (about 200 lbs.)
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Get it! It will upgrade what you already have most likely and will make a great addition to any room. Not very costly, I fully recommend!
As a young child a received my first Television, to be exact I was seven at the time and my mother brought home a 19 in. Sylvania with no audio/video and buttons that eventually pressed in and fell through. Though the buttons falling through didn't occur to about six or seven years after that. It treated me good, I watched many things on that T.V. and it lived with me through 3 different residences, 4 if you count my apartment, but all good things must come to an end right? Just this year while staying in my apartment in Tallahassee, one night my 12 year old Sylvania (I was 19) finally took a dive as the picture just jolted a few times and finally cut off, at first I had no idea what happened, but soon figured it was "Time for an upgrade."
This upgrade occurred early that next morning, due to the fact that I could not go without a T.V for too long. Upon inspecting the shelves of a local Target, something caught my eye, something big. There it was, a 32 in. RCA television, and the price tag should as well been just as big at 450.00 even. What was even more funny was the fact the same T.V. at the local radio shack was selling for a whopping 550.00! Now I knew I had come across something good. I inquired to the target sales rep. that I wanted this T.V. and I wanted A.S.A.P. She informed me that there was one in stock and should would have someone get it. At the time I was with my friend and we had his 97 Honda Accord (go figure). After a few minutes a man came out with the T.V. on a carrying dolly and I knew there was the first and ultimately only downfall of this device, its size and weight. After about 15 minutes of taking the T.V. out of the box, and trying to get it in the car, (I didn't realize it was gonna be this big) we finally fit it in the front seat of my friends accord, of course it was to his dismay because it put a few cuts in the roof carpet. Upon getting home we unloaded the mammoth of a T.V. from the front seat. NOTE: We both worked out regularly and still had a hell of a time moving it from place to place. It also didn't help that I lived on the second floor of my apartment complex either. So if you have trouble with things that weigh quite a bit you might want to think about having this T.V. delivered. After lugging it up about 30 steps and down a long hallway, we got the T.V. into the house and onto a stand where it stood tall and made the living room look more complete than it ever has. I was so exited that I had to rip open the plastic bags with the manuals and remote so I could get this bad boy running. After about 3 minutes everything was ready. The G-link cables for an on-screen T.V. guide, which is very useful, was connected, as was my direct T.V. system, which I might add is also RCA so I didn't have to program my universal RCA remote as much as I thought I would have to. The picture was very good, of course its not HDTV, but I did pay 450.00, not 4000.00. The color setup screen and menus are very easy to use, there are captions that explain everything at the bottom if you are confused and the audio video jacks are in a good location in the back as are additional speaker jacks for home audio. The instruction manuals are very explicit and to the point, no technical terms, so the everyday person can figure out how to do operate it. The design is sleek and makes the room look very good. If its your bedroom, living room, or even den, this T.V. will let you know its there. The sound is pretty good even without home theater, and can get very loud even if you want to pop a Compact disk into your favorite game system or hook your CD player to it, music or game it doesn't matter. The durability is yet to be known, though there hasn't been any problems thus far. The remote is stylish, though a little bulky, but is very easy to understand. Beyond that the viewing experience will leave you satisfied whether its VHS, DVD, a video game, or even normal T.V.
Today I still own this RCA masterpiece and in the future will get another if time calls. Everything is great, I see no reason why everyone wouldn't want to own one. I definitely do not regret spending the 450.00 on this great T.V.
