There is NO better value out there! Buy it.

Pros Beautiful, vivid color for all lighting conditions with very good audio at a great price.
Cons No component video inputs; does have 2 S-video inputs, though.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  It's the best value by far in conventional projection TV. Buy it!!!
I decided to buy a projection TV a couple of months ago, but first had to decide on whether standard or high definition should be the way to go. I set up the following criteria, based on our family's viewing habits, to help decide.

1. It will be the primary TV in our home.
2. I require a high quality picture and sound.
3. We will primarily view cable TV, but occasionally rent a DVD or VHS movie.
5. It will be viewed from about 12 feet and at angles of up to 30 degrees from perpendicular to the screen.
4. It will be on most of the time.
5. It must be reliable and easy to use.
6. I don't want a future-purchased HDTV tuner to have to operate with an older projection TV.

I looked at the state of HDTV equipment and related broadcaster plans and decided that the HDTV situation is still too volatile for me. It's my guess that by the time broadcasters are seriously transmitting HDTV (yr2006), I will want to have a better projection TV to use with a new HDTV tuner than I can purchase now, at any price.

Thus, I hoped to get a 5 year interim solution which would be satisfying, yet economical, so that I would feel ok about buying a HDTV projection TV in about 5 years.

Being a hands-on electronics engineer, I began seriously looking what is available in standard projection TV, and kept coming back to two 46 inch models from GE and RCA. I can't believe how good a solution the RCA P46921 is (or the equivalent P46924 that I purchased from Fry's). I had no idea that such high quality could be obtained at such a value price. The unit is almost a twin to the highly-rated GE 46GW948 that I was about to buy from Circuit City for the same price.
But there were two nice features only on the RCA that swung me to buy it instead. First, it provides 2 S-video inputs instead of the 1 on the GE. Second, and more importantly, the RCA has a new screen that is totally smooth and incorporates a matte surface to suppress reflections. Scraping your thumbnail across the screen does not create the rough feel that occurs on the GE and most other lenticular screens. Thus, a separate screen protector is not required. Great!!!!

I won't go into the RCA's other features which you can read about in other reviews of either the RCA or the GE.
I bought and have had the TV for a couple of weeks now and couldn't be happier. It's really much more than I expected. Additionally, I'll get several years experience with a good projection TV and will be more well-informed when I buy the BIG ONE in a few years.

I recommend it without reservation.
