The Bottom Line:
Its an affordable TV for the average home user!
I had wanted a large screen tv for sometime and when I could finally afford to do it, I shopped around. I finally found the RCA 56" Projection TV. The price was reasonable (not the most expensive and not the cheapest)
I have really enjoyed the TV. I was somewhat apprehensive about getting a big screen becuase some don't have a very clear reception. However, that is not the case with this TV.
The only warning I would give is to measure your doorway on your home to be sure the TV will fit. When i bought the TV, we ended up having to take the doors off the house to get it in our rumpus room downstairs. And the stairs were a challenge becuase we had a bulkhead and the TV JUST (by less then an inch) made it down (tilted at a 45 degree angle). And now that I'm moving into a new townhouse, I made sure the doors were wide enough to fit the TV through!
One feature I REALLY love about this TV is the GuidePlus stystem. This feature downloads the TV schedule for up to 5 days ahead from your regular cable. With this feature, you get a grid that allows you to see, preview, and program TV shows ahead of time (very much like Satellite and Digital Cable does). The TV will also, automatically start your VCR to record TV programs that you have pre-selected to record, even if you're not home! There is also a "news" feature that gives you all the national and international news headlines and brief articles. And you can even select categories, such as "Sports" and it will find ALL the sports programs that will be coming on in the next 5 days.
