It has it's strengths and weaknesses

Pros Lightweight, easy to use, pretty good FM tuner
Cons Eats up batteries, can't take a lot of bashing.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I'd recommend this CD player if you're not someone, like me, a student that takes their CD player almost everywhere in a backpack.
Ok, last year, I decided that my 1998 Sony Walkman, with no skip protection, and a very loose sound circuit, needed to get replaced with something a bit more lighter and durable, and with skip protection of course. I have some RCA audio and video products(boombox, VCR), and they've stood out to some serious damage, so I decided to try my luck with RCA again. So I went down to Radio Shack and bought this CD player. I found it was very nice. The Bass Boost and Surround sound settings are very nice for when you want to hear someone and when you don't (when you do...turn on the bass setting, when you don't, turn on the surround setting and everything will be blocked out), the FM tuner was of average quality, not the type that was in their boomboxes, but average considering that it's in a portable player and RCA isn't Sony.
However, I do have a couple of problems with it. It sucked up battery power faster than any CD player I've seen before (Faster than most RCA models I've seen, and most do suck up battery power pretty fast), but that might be toward the fact that it's powered by AAA batteries. Most are operated by AA, which might give more power to a CD player like this.
Also, it doesn't stand up to a student's busy and fast life really. The Sony Walkman I had stood up to 3 years of bashing from getting on the bus, cramping my backpack into a locker or other small space, heck, it had even been dropped from like 5 feet up 3 times and it didn't break. The RCA one, I've had it like maybe a little longer than a year, and it's already broken.First off, in the middle of the school year, the top of the player had broken off and was only together by the wires or circuit things going to the laser and LCD screen. Also, the headphones aren't that durable, and the plastic had broken where you adjust it to your head size.Second, like a week ago, like nearing the end of the school year, LCD screen broke, there's this little black line on the bottom of the display. And considering that I kept it away from all my other materials that could break it, such as my pencils, books, and other heavy stuff, I'm not happy. I'm pretty sure that I can't get it repaired, and I will have to yet again buy another CD player.
So, in conclusion, if you're buying this CD player for someone like a student at a school that involves lockers or some other small place where you have to store most of your stuff, don't even bother, for it'll most likely be broken by the end of the year, whether it be by the LCD screen broken, the wires broken connecting the bottom and top of the CD player, or just something small like the headphones breaking or some other problem I don't have.
But if you're not a student with a busy life and basically when you take your CD player with you, it's in your hands most of the time, I'd recommend it because of it's nice sound and the part about the FM tuner.
