What do you expect for 59 bucks?

Pros Price, decent sound, optical output, changes discs very quickly, ATS
Cons Cheesy appearance, cheap build quality (ALL plastic), unreliable, poor displays, poor programming capabilities
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Cheap-o, inferior product. Dont buy sony, but avoid this thing.
I got this player as a last resort, as I have had no luck with cd changers in the past. I dont abuse them, but they always break. After I bought a Sony CDP-CX400 400 disc changer for 300 bucks that broke within 2 weeks, I got fed up with spending big money on things that are going to break anyway...and I got this on a price match for about 57 bucks. For what I paid for it, its alright...it sounds good, it changes discs quickly and is easy to use. However, as time goes on there are more and more things about this player that irritate me. First, you can't program a sequence of songs on more than one disc. For example, you cant program song 1 disc 1, then song 1 disc 2, etc. If you try to change the disc number while programming it erases your program and starts a new one on the new disc. Second, as far as programming, there is no elapsed time remaining display. This is something usually standard on ANY cd player, even my cheap little sony boombox can do it. Its such a pain when recording becuase i never know if my program will fit onto the tape im using. I hate how the display always says "STDBY" when its off, and you cant get rid of it. It also buzzes all the time. Besides that, the thing is now having trouble reading discs, even brand new ones. Bought the new Tim McGraw cd, popped it in fresh out of the wrapper and would not read it. The power button does not work sometimes either, and you have to hit it on the side for it to turn on. I shouldnt have to do this with a 5 month old unit no matter HOW cheap it is. If this is any indication on how many problems they must have with their prducts, RCA offers no customer service number in the manual, and they do not repair the product-it is an exchange warranty only. And of course, you have to pay for shipping to send it to Texas. I would not receommend this player, if you can get it for under 50 bucks maybe, but this thing is one ugly, plasticy, unreliable piece of junk. When it works properly though, it does sound decent.
