A very good for-the-purpose unit.

An inexpensive shelf system with good looks and some surprising features.

It's not audiophile sound, but at this price-point, what is?

The Bottom Line:
As long as one keeps their expectations in check, this item should not disappoint and may very well pleasantly surprise. For it's price and intended use, excellent.
This is not a bad little unit at all. The shape of the detatchable speaker enclosures (separates, actually - they don't really detatch from anything) are cylindrical rather than the usual box-style, but nothing that will take a great deal of getting used to. The sound seemed a little thin at first, but a bit of experimentation with the equalizer presets put that impression to rest - big time. The circular remote, about the size of my palm (as in hand, not pilot) sports twenty-three
buttons, some of which control functions that can't be accessed from the main unit, so don't lose it. The player itself, with it's two green dials, is reminisent of a shortwave radio - a look I found very much to my liking. A motorized lid swings up at the touch of a button for CD loading, and the unit is compatable with both CD-R and CD-RW discs. The radio tuner section does it's job in the manner expected.
This modest unit is a very good piece of gear for close living situations - hotel rooms, dorms, thin-walled apartments, and so on. I play it pretty loudly and have never been asked to turn it down. For the price and the purpose for which it was purchased, I'm perfectly satisfied. Go in with reasonable expectations, and you probably will be too.
