RCA RS2538 CD Mini Audio System

I was looking for a system that would combine the CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 capabilities all in a single unit. There aren't too many to choose from, and this RCA system seemed to offer it all at a reasonable price. It didn't have a cassette deck, but I could have put up with it. The first thing I did after I'd set the system up, which was rather easy, was to load 5 regular CDs in it and try playing them using all the different modes that are available in this unit (such as shuffle play, one or all disk repeat, programmed play). It worked fine for a while. But no sooner had I started to enjoy it than the thing went berserk. Basically, it stopped responding to all controls, whether they were on the remote or on the unit itself. The changer kept rotating like crazy and there was no way to stop it. When it would occasionaly stop as if of its own volition, the tray could not be opened. Then the cycle would start again. Replugging the system didn't help a bit. I ended up taking the damned thing apart to get my disks and throwing the rest in the garbage, for garbage it is. I've always had doubts about RCA's reliability, and now I've had the opprtunity to experience it (or lack thereof) myself. If you don't want to waste your time and money, I recommend that you look elsewhere.
