Reclaim your living room from the kids!

Pros Compact size, universal remote, features, decent DD decoding, classy cosmetics.
Cons Passive sub, slow response time of some controls, might be underpowered in larger rooms.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Excellent choice for a bedroom system. Just add a TV for instant Home - I mean, "Bedroom Theater." Great value and surprisingly good performance. Highly recommended!
Purchased at Radio Shack for $349 (the sale was dependent on the $50 rebate.) That brings the price of this nifty little HT rig down to about equal with the competition. As I was unpacking the box, I honestly didn't expect much from an all-in-one, plastic-mini-speaker, made-in-China system. But when I finally fired it up, my jaw hit the floor. Simply good sound with any source. FM, CD, DVD - they all rocked my daughter's smallish bedroom. I could see the many happy evenings ahead where my daughter entertained her pre-teen friends with endless Reese Witherspoon DVDs and Avril Lavigne CDs...all behind a closed bedroom door. Peace had finally returned to my family's living room!

*I chose RCA primarily because my 13 year old already had an RCA TV and VCR and the supplied remote was guaranteed to work both without any progamming. Also, I knew I could trust the brand. Many of the names you see in the under-$500 Home Theater-in-a-box market are real head scratchers. I mean c'mon, who's ever heard of "Venturer" before?
