RCA VR639HF VHS VCR

I just bought my second VCR, the first one was an RCA for $529.00 back in 1987. We had it fixed once and only had trouble with it that one time up until a month ago and the color went out of the videos when we tried to play them. They were in black and white. So off I go to get a new VCR and figured that since I had such great luck with the last RCA one for 12 years and only problems twice that I wanted another one. Well am I ever disappointed. I have had this new VR639HF for less than 2 months and right now I can not do anything with it. We went to put a tape in it to watch and turned it on got to see the previews of the coming movies on the tape and that was it. Right now I can not access the menu or anything and have read the manual from front to back and can not get anything to work. The rented movie was even stuck in the VCR but we did get it out manually but still is all we see on the front panel is ERR. No time will come up, no menu or anything. I have tried everything. If anyone can help please let me know. I am not paying to have this thing fixed since I have only had it for 2 months. Very disappointed with this RCA VCR. Thank you.
