Just another VCR.
Pros
Has VCR+ Gold, the latest type of VCR+.
Cons
Is not self-cleaning. Remote sensor has very ltd range.

The Bottom Line:
If you are getting an all-RCA system or have to have VCR+ Gold, consider it, but otherwise avoid.
I got this because I thought I was going to be doing a lot of taping, but found out otherwise. However, if I do need it, the VCR+ Gold is the best version of that feature, & with the decline of VCR, it may be the only thing that would give it any resale value. Features include automatically finding beginning of movie & skipping over commercials during playback. The remote sensor on the deck is very ltd, and you have to aim carefully and press firmly to get a response. The remote itself is supposedly universal, but actually the TV & VCR buttons operate a few brands, the other buttons are for RCA/Proscan models only. Picture is ok if the tape is ok, but is not customizable, so you can't do any adjustments of a bad tape. If you are getting an all-RCA system at the Shack, or if you feel you have to have VCR+ Gold, consider this model, but otherwise it's nothing worth going out of your way for.
