Not the best, but OK for basic purposes
Pros
Good recorder Easy to use Built-in USB
Cons
Tricky renaming files
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
It was great for recording. Good for playing music when connected to pc speakers. I plan to buy more.
I got this mp3 player to record the sermons for my church. It works great for this purpose. We simply set it to record, put it on hold, and then place it on the lectern before the church service starts. The sound quality is good. It saves waves files nicely. After we record the files, we attach the mp3 player to a pc with the usb connection and edit the file to remove everything except the service. On an XP pc you can use sound recorder to do this. It's also nice that its own usb connector. I also use it as a usb drive where I can save other files.
I have also been using it for events where I've been asked to play background music. I just connected it directly to computer speakers and let it run for hours. The only problem is that I'm not sure how to create folder or playlists on the mp3 player so I have to remove any songs I don't want to play. Otherwise it's great and is a way for me to avoid bringing my pc to play the music.
Pros (I ran out of room below)
Records nicely but must be right in front of the person being recorded.
Can hold a decent amount of average sized sound files.
A single battery can play and record for several hours.
Screen is easy to understand. (I had problems with another mp3 player where it was too difficult to tell if it was actually recording.)
Easy to use (online documentation a plus)
Definitely good for the price
Has worked with any PC I've attached it to without any problems (XP and Vista)
Cons
May not be compatible with all music download formats
If you rename the file you record, you have to move it outside the "voice" folder. Otherwise, all new recorded files will be named "v.wav" and will overwrite itself. I think this is standard with this type of mp3 player, but is a big bummer if you forget.
