Decent receiver for the money.
Bought this unit 2 days ago and have liked it so far. The only complaints I could make is that to switch between the digital inputs (1 optical and 2 digital coaxial), you have to use the button on the unit's front face (no remote function will allow this), kind of a problem when all you send... Stay away from this receiver's optical digital input
Based in part on reviews I read here, I purchased the Sherwood 6500 receiver to pass audio from my plasma TV to my surround sound speakers. The first unit died within 24 hours. Turn power on and within seconds power was turned off by the receiver. Back to Circuit City for another unit.

Can't touch it for the money
I bought one of these units about 6 years ago and it's still going strong. It's very well built with it's descrete amps making it heavy which speaks well of it's quality and sound.
