Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Excellent value. Incredible technology.
If Maxwell Smart had one of these, he could have gone barefoot!
For the past eight months or so, I had been using a Blackberry RIM 957 for remote email. It is an impressive piece of equipment, but very much in the shade and outdated by the 7280, which adds a color screen and doubles as a cell phone.
DISPLAY: Color icons - much easier to read - battery, reception and message icons are tastefully integrated into the default screen and easy to understand.
PHONE: Very clear sound, perhaps better than the Nokia phone I had been using. Phone keys are the only ones activated in the default screen - nothing to scroll through when you pull it from the holster and begin dialing. Phone numbers display very large as you are dialing them and are easy to read.
INTERNET: Some internet is available. It is easy to get news, weather and sports. Internet graphics are limited. If you are wanting widely-varied remote internet, this is not the best option for you.
COMPUTER INTERFACE: Connects and charges through a USB connection. Easy importation of Microsoft Outlook contacts - immediate importation of all your phone and email contact information!
BATTERY: Just as with the 957, the battery holds a charge well in regular use. It comes with a international-mount wall charger, a car adapter, and a USB connector to your computer for data exchange and charging the battery. Much superior to other cell phone batteries I have used.
Overall, if you need to stay in close contact through email and phone, I highly recommend this piece of equipment.
Note: Your reception and range will depend on the service provider that supplies your phone and email services. My service is through Cingular and it is spectacular.
