Excellent Sound in its Class

Pros Great sound quality, conveniently placed controls, it is a true mobile stereo rack equivalent
Cons Better if bass output of 60hz to 150hz without distortion is possible.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  The RV-NB1 is a great portable alternative to hauling a shelf or rack system. Use an enclosure for surround effect.
The RV-NB1 produces serious sound for a unit its size, and from my experience using it for 6 months now, its more tailored for today's music than earlier recordings.
The bass output is mainly 60hz, which suits dance type of music with nice after-boom effects without the need for a hall-effect enclosure. This enhances one to hear a wider bass range, though dance usually delivers only the lowest end. Those who want to hear rock music will need to enclose it to hear the upper ranges of the bass. Placing it on sound resonating structures like a deck will help the resonance of the bass also.
The front speakers put out an excellent, crisp mid-range sound between 150hz to 15khz. It doesn't sound muffled like other boomboxes in the market. Since the unit does not have a tweeter, it has an ACS circuit option that enhances the treble sound of the unit. This will give one a feel for the presence of a tweeter.
This unit will produce extremely loud sound, surprisingly without distortion, even exceeding the sound quality and volume of some shelf systems. At half the volume (setting 25), this will more than cover an area the size of a large room or deck.
Overall, this unit is easy to control without unecessary numerous button settings. The basic buttons to play music are on the unit, and the other more complex features can be controlled from the remote. I think this is great, since certain features will usually be accessed once, they are conveniently placed only on the remote.
This review adds my experience with the RV-NB1 to the other previous reviews, and they pretty much sum up the rest of the units specs.
