The Bottom Line:
I recommend purchasing this or any XM radio product. This is the best purchase I've made! You get XM on the internet free of charge with any subscription too.
If you can find one of these anymore, it's definitely worth it (I think they have been discontinued). I bought my Roady two years ago and it's been a love affair ever since!! I have both the car and home kits for it and they both work perfectly. I am hooked on XM radio, I may never listen to regular radio again! I believe that most car kits now come with an "FM Modulator" so you can tune your radio to channel 88.1 and get XM directly through your system that way. The one I have (it's old) came with a tape that runs continually in the deck and the sound comes through my car speakers. There's also a power source that plugs into the lighter. The only real complaint I have is too many cords! There's 1 for the antenna, 1 for the tape, 1 for the power source. A bit hard to keep them from looking like "spaghetti" in the car. It was really easy to install too. The antenna can sit on the roof, hood or trunk of you car and has a VERY strong magnet (you really have to pry this thing off). I've taken it through the car wash and never had a problem - I have it mounted on my trunk. The cord is extra long and runs all the way from the front to the back of the car, so you have to find creative ways to hide it so people don't trip over it in the back seat. We ran ours under the seat and through the trunk, so you really can't see it. I have never lost a signal while driving. I don't live in an area with mountains or hills, but I am in a suburban area. I would highly recommend any XM satellite radio - it really is the way to go!
