In love with XM

Pros Cool colors, remembers your fav. songs, artist & title display options, mounts easily onto dash
Cons Small buttons, hard to navigate while driving
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  The Roady is fabulous & you should own it!
I had wanted XM for a while. I hate the radio...the commercials, the same songs over & over again...and I was getting sick of all my CDs & MP3's. I needed new music, and I knew XM would deliver.

I decided on the Roady because it just looked the coolest. Plus, a friend of mine had it & highly recommended it. I purchased the roady & it came with the car & home kit for $129 at an XM kiosk at a mall in NJ.

Installation went smoothly. I simply mounted the stand onto my dashboard - the adhesive has stayed on perfectly - and I was able to wire the antenna to my roof above my front windshield without any wires showing. My Roady is connected through a cassette deck & powers thru the cigarette lighter.

The Roady features 30 presets, although I can usually find something decent on the first set. You can change the color of the display light, which is really cool because the colors are vivid & fabulous. Also, you can change the color of the casing - it comes with gray, blue & red. My favorite feature is the song memory. If you're listening to a song you like, you can easily save it & then every time it's on, the Roady alerts you. You can choose how you want your songs displayed, too...station/ artist; station/ song title; or artist & title.

As for XM, I love it. The variety of stations is unmatched. **Although I must say, I've never really heard Sirius nor have I played with any other satellite receivers** My favorite stations are the decade stations - 90's on 9, 80's on 8, and so forth. I also like the option of hearing the weather in every major US city, listening to TV shows on MTV, E!, VH1, CNN, etc.

The things I don't like are small. Like the buttons - they're a bit small. Also, the buttons on top...at night, you can't see what they're for. The labels are written above the button, but they don't illuminate at night. And lastly, I can't flip through the stations while I'm driving because I have to take my eyes off the road for far too long. Also, there are only a few spots where I don't get reception - mostly in woodsy areas with lots of tall trees. But it's rare that it gets so bad for so long that I have to turn it off.

Overall, I love XM & the roady. I recently was forced to listen to FM in my car (I took the Roady out when my car was being traded in) and I can't believe that's what I used to listen to - once you get used to variety & no commercials, it's IMPOSSIBLE to go back!
