The Bottom Line:
Buy this unit if you ever drive a car for more than 3 minutes at a time. File name display is excellent!!
I studied many of the in dash car MP3/CD players and chose the Rockford Fosgate RFX9000 for its features and affordability. The most important feature is the support for Joliet file names. Most car MP3/CD players out there only support ISO9660 format which severely limits how many characters can be displayed. The RFX9000 has a 10 character display that scrolls 29 characters of a file name.
The second feature that I use very often is audible FF/RW. Often I'm driving a short distance listening to a long techno song that doesn't get going until midpoint. Have you ever wanted to rewind back to a certain point in a song? It's very difficult without being able to hear the song while rewinding.
The third feature I find very useful is browse while playing. I listen to non-mainstream music so many people ask me to play a certain song from the 140+ on my burned CD. It's almost impossible to remember all the track numbers (this unit does support direct track access) so I browse alphabetically through folder names and track names.
The track to track delay is much less than most MP3/CD car players I've tested. The tuner is clear and reception is perfect.
The sound is excellent quality. It has a rotary volume (not available on Kenwood and others). Many other features.....
I love this unit and would recommend it to anyone.
