Amazing Clarity

Pros Very clear and clean, very loud, good sensitivity.
Cons Much stronger mid to high range than low range.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  This is the best 5" co-ax on the market in my opinion. With a sub and a good amp, real screamers!
These co-ax speakers are in the "Power" series from Rockford Fosgate. I have a total of four of these speakers installed - two in the front door panels and two in the rear deck of a 1990 VW Golf. These are being powered by a single Rockford Fosgate "Punch" Series P8004 amplifier. Also I have a single P200-P amp powering a 8" - P8 sub in a ported enclosure.

As with most Rockford Fosgate products these are under-stated in terms of power. Although they are rated at 60w RMS and 120w maximum, they handle the 200w per channel from the Punch P8004 with relative ease. The aluminum cones are well suited for screaming loud mid to high ranges and the clarity of highs coming from the combined .75" tweeter is astounding. I have never come across truer sounding high ranges with a co-ax speaker before these.

I do not have these speakers on a crossover or with any additional caps. I do have the low frequency pass turned off on the P8004 amp so they are handling just mid frequency through the high end and leaving the lows and bass to the Punch P200 and P8 sub. This setup is optimal for rock, pop, R & B, metal, punk, etc. and although the clarity is amazing and there is a strong full range sound, I wouldn't say this is the best setup for classical, jazz, opera, or other types of music which rely heavily on a very balanced lower-mid range. This range is difficult to balance in a car anyway as typically most road noise is in this lower-mid range. With the music I listen to (rock, punk, rockabilly) it's not missed at all and is usually mixed down anyway because it just adds a muddy quality.

The speakers installed quickly and come with good mounting hardware and hex-screws. The speaker wire supplied is cheap junk so throw it away and use some good 8ga. monster wire or equivalent.

The cones are polypropylene with a micro coating of aluminum which looks and sounds incredible. The combination of the poly with the aluminum seems to add a transparent brightness without the thin "tinny" sound that comes with a full alloy cone. The aluminum dome tweeter is crystal clear and can be adjusted and angled toward the listener at installation time.

You hear clean clear highs and bright solid midrange in the music, not the speaker its self. That is the true measure of a speakers performance. These are as solid as a co-ax gets and for under $150 the performance cannot be matched.
