A Squished Sagem
Pros
Small, Light, decent battery life, Predictive Text, Great call quality, awesome vibrator :-P
Cons
fiddly menu's, horrid buttons, Stupid shape, weird low battery quirks.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Cheap, you get what you pay for. it's good for what I paid for it. a quite usable second and throw around don't thow it too hard. it might Break!
This is a very interesting phone.
I am used to Nokia's (6210) and had to buy this one as a temp phone while my 6210 was in the repair shop. for the $50 (us$22/15GBP) I paid fot it I am more than impressed. It also came with a SIM card with $20 call time. (Vodafone :-( )
When I first used it the first thing I thouyght was "is it okay? as it's got the apperance that it's been run over by something quite heavy. it's kinda like a banana with a big dent in it. the other annoyance was the antenna which bends off to the left and the bulbous top.
The second was it's keys, horrid hard rubbery things and almost too small for my fingers.
The final part was the silly screen. in all that huge glass they fit two tiiiiny lines of text and a pile of loosley spaced icons. :-(
Usage,
As a CALLING phone it's very good. you just dial, press go and you'ra away. the voice quality is better than my nokia and VERY LOUD AND CLEAR to the person on the other end.
the phonebook has a half decent retreival system.
TEXT
ARGH! spare me! this phone is terrible for this, I kinda got used to it. the predictive text was a godsend. otherwise I would have to hold down the key, and WAIT till it flicked through the letters A,B,C,1 etc.
the pridictive text worked as usual and the "space bar" was on the 0 which is like my nokia. the keys are just hard and weird to press. I was told I couldn't access phonebook to send but I have been able to quite perfectly.
When a Text message comes in the only issue is that the person's name does not appear as the sender. the number is not always fully displayed either ARGH!
Vibrator
Compared to the useless thing on my Nokia, this vibrator das some dammed punch. I now leave the valuable 6210 at home and lob this thing to the pub. if I lose it it dosendt matter, I can dance etc :-) and always "feel" a message.
Ringer
Great, Psuedo polyphonic ringtones!! WOW
the rest are decent, MUCH better than the 8 series Sagem.
Battery
When it get's low! it does the most bizzare things! calls just "won't work" and really strange thing begin to happen
problem is the battery meter shows "full"! a charge brings it back to life. the battery lasts 4 days though.
Menu, ARGH! help me god! it's just bizzare, I understand French so it was a piece of cake.. things like "FIXED REPertoire" are used instead of "Fixed numbers"
I have the phone set to french now and it's actually quite understandable.
Having a play!
try pressing * whan in a menu, some useless but interesting things will come up.
Converting the case!
I had a friend give me his Sagem RC 912 which had stopped working. I liked the look much better as it's smaller and the buttons aren't so horrid. well I pulled them both to bits and sure enough, they transplanted perfectly!!!
it's now a MUCH better shape and enjoyable to use. I miss nothing of the other case!
