Blackjack? or Bust? Should you buy this phone?

bySyntax May 18, 2008

Pros Quick, Cheap, Thin, Fast Data Connectivity when tethered.
Cons Tethering controls not available by default, no touch screen.
Recommended it? No

I was offered a phone at discount when I switched cell companies. I decided to go with the Blackjack II. It seemed well enough, but I ended up using my old phone reflashed to the new company.

Windows mobile OS just isnt what its supposed to be when its running on a device without a touch... Read full review »

Great phone, but not as good as my last.

Pros great connections, clarity, windows mobile a plus, fast internet, external memory...
Cons no touchscreen, small screen, email terrible, headphone jack odd, no earbuds or car...
Recommended it? Yes

I previously had the HP IPAQ 6515, and loved that device.  But, alas, as with most cellphones, it didn't quite make it to the end of my phone plan.  I purchased the red Blackjack II because it had nearly all of the features my HP had, and was only $50. refurbished from AT&T.

I love the... Read full review »

BlackJack II: Sequels aren't always better...

bygarrettb Apr 8, 2008
11 Helpfuls 12 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great keyboard, more memory, better battery, and GPS.
Cons Slippery slick body makes it awkward to hold and likely to drop.
Recommended it? Yes

I'm targeting this review to existing Blackjack owners who might be wondering if it is time to upgrade to the Blackjack II, but others may find it helpful too.

I owned the original Blackjack phone for a year and half before it stopped working. I've never liked a phone so much - to me the... Read full review »

Decent smartphone, but with some shortcomings

bythegsrguy May 13, 2008
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros GPS, HSDPA, great battery life, sleek design, excellent keyboard
Cons Build quality not as good as original, proprietary connectors, AT&T bloatware
Recommended it? Yes

I should predicate this by sharing that I used to own the original Blackjack (SGH-I607), so you'll see me making lots of comparisons.

The Blackjack 2 is stylish. It's thin, it's got a shiny painted finish, and it has some great chrome accents. You'll get noticed with this phone whether... Read full review »

Pros Many features in a small package.
Cons Full time screen use means short battery life. No car charger.
Recommended it? Yes

The Blackjack II comes with house charger, data cable/computer charger and an enclosed program disk for installing the interface needed for syncing the device with your computer. It also has the ability to act as a wireless modem hence the sync cable that doubles as a charging and power cable

The World Has Moved On, But I Still Have One

bywitfits Feb 21, 2010

Pros I don't really have any to list. It's just another phone.
Cons There are many things I'd like to see fixed or revised.
Recommended it? No

I really don't see anything spectacular after having had this phone for almost a year now. I previously owned a Nokia and I believe they really have the "user" functionality and feature set down.
The device is just another phone. I haven't been able to find that "wow" factor.

Better than the first, but still a card short from being a 21. Almost there.

bybigbuxxx234 May 5, 2009

Pros Simple and priced reasonably
Cons Battery life and camera
Recommended it? Yes

When I first got the BJ 2, I thought it was the best phone made. It was until the second day I discovered a few shortcomings. The phone only came in two colors when I purchased mine, but later came out in a couple more. Disappointed at the face you can't just interchange phone covers or anything, I... Read full review »

Great smartphone for the work/play balance

byr_liebo Oct 22, 2008
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great work/play balance, easy to use, does everything, cheaper than I-phones
Cons Battery life, doesn't do media as well as I-phone or email as well as Blackberry
Recommended it? Yes

This is a review of the AT&T Blackjack II, recently updated with Windows Mobile 7.

Appearance and Functionality:

The Blackjack II is sleek and thin, with a nice contemporary appearance. The phone is thin enough and short enough to fit into your pocket, and the candy bar design keeps... Read full review »

Pros stylish, great signal, GPS, long battery life.
Cons Camera is mediocre, No Wi-Fi. Using task manager to shut down programs.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this phone back in April '08 and I absolutely love this phone. I have the black one and use a 2 GB MicroSD memory card with it. I did have Nextel and Boost prior to this phone, but I could not get signals in my house. I'd always have to go outside or stick it out the window to get a... Read full review »
