The World Has Moved On, But I Still Have One
Pros
I don't really have any to list. It's just another phone.
Cons
There are many things I'd like to see fixed or revised.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Again, I have found Nokia to have developed a better "user" experience with their products. It's the simple things when using a phone.
I really don't see anything spectacular after having had this phone for almost a year now. I previously owned a Nokia and I believe they really have the "user" functionality and feature set down.
The device is just another phone. I haven't been able to find that "wow" factor.
1. When entering numbers to a bridge line, the keyboard back-light will dim long before you can find the next number. For instance, you dial the phone number, then you have to enter a code to enter a conference line, while the automated voice system is telling you what to do the keyboard back-light goes out and if you're in a dark place, like your car during nighttime (yes, I'm parked), go fishing for the numbers. Yes once you touch a number does the back-light come on, uh-huh. But did that number just register? Depends on which button you chose.
2. When the phone is locked and an alarm goes off, if you hit the dismiss button, because you're dragging the phone out of your pocket, you never see the alarm. So in some cases, any button brings the phone back to life with no other action. In others, some buttons execute the action AND bring the phone back to life. In other words, here's a dark phone making noise. You hit a button and it dismisses the alarm and never shows you what the alarm was.
3. There are many button features that I'd like to change. But they're hard-coded and you can't modify them.
4. Features seem to be limited for the sanity of the devlopers rather than the users. So many "little" things could have been implemented but are just "not".
In my stupid world I will not buy another Samsung Phone. It's just the way I am. The vendor gets one chance with me. I haven't bought a Sony product in almost 30 years. Blu-Ray? The way of BETA? You never know.
How do I always end up at an ATT web site. Oh, that button is prominently available. But I never hava a reason to go to that web site. Can't change the functionality. I like to use voice recordings. But I will fish for the application each time.
The camera, hold still, and hold still long after the sound affects imply that you've taken your picture. Ha, and don't believe the frozen image after you've tapped the shutter. That image and the image truly captured will be different. So don't walk away from that special moment. I have a thousand blurry pictures.
How quickly can you get what you need?
The Samsung Blackjack II doesn't seem to to do anything quickly. Yes, I know that's mostly due to the operating system. But then don't try to do it. Seriously, today's technology shouldn't have you waiting for more than a second or two. Sometimes the Samsung Blackjack II leaves me waiting until it is "ready". At the end of it's life I will let you know how easily it breaks in half. Perhaps breaking it in half will enable a "sooner-than-expected" end of life ;(
