SAMSUNG c417 Wireless Phone ~Horrible Blue Tooth, Design and Reception!!~
Pros
It is small and looks sleek and trendy.
Cons
Very user un-friendly buttons, bad reception, my husband hates it!
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
If it sounds too good it usually is! This phone has plenty minuses, I would NOT buy it again.
YOU CANNOT KEEP IT IN YOUR POCKET!
We needed a second basic phone so I could communicate with my husband while he is working. This deal sounded well worth it, phone was actually free with cheap basic 2 year contract. It is small enough to carry around in your pockets, you can even take pictures with it. So why not?
IT TAKES PICTURES THAT IS TRUE!!
My husband works plenty outside (we have racehorses) so he needs to keep the phone in his pocket. That turned out to be a problem mainly because it kept taking photos way too easily! The photo button is designed so horribly that smaller movement while the phone is in your pocket will result it to activate. First I blamed my husband for not protecting it but soon found out that it was not his fault that we had a phone full of photos inside of his pants.. The phone also got scratched very easily, after two weeks it looked way worst outside than our older Nokia phone.
BLUE TOOTH JUST FOR HEADSET!
While you buy this phone everyone conviniently forgets to tell you that the bluetooth works ONLY for the headset. You cannot communicate or transfer with PC or any other device. I actually was hoping that my husband could send me pictures to my computer with this phone. I think they are misleading you with this bluetooth.
PHONE IS SMALL
Phone looked small and fancy and quite easy to operate. But actually it is TOO small for my husband. All the buttons on the side are for him hard to push alone because his fingers are too thick, he keeps pushing several by mistake. Phone is so short that he is having hard time talking and listening at the same time, if it would only be an inch or two longer!
CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?
Reception is not so great. I was able to talk to him inside the barn with our older service provider but with Cingular he has to walk outside to get clear signal. That is a major setback for us. While driving home he gets the signal about the same way as with the other provider, there is few spots between PA and NY that you just do not get service no matter who your provider is.
When you do get a signal the voice quality is fine and ringtones and options in that category are good. I played with the camera at home a bit and photos are decent from a phone, not the best resolution, but I knew that when I bought the phone.
Texting has plenty options, I've only tried the basics and "buy milk" or "buy diapers" are automatically saved to the phone, I don't even know how I did it! Frankly I would have time to write it every time but I assume this is a nice feature if you do a lot of text messaging!
Battery life seems better than in our older Nokia but the fact that there is so many places that reception gets way low and bad for us kills this phone for everyday use. Even in the local supermarket I lost the reception, had to go outside! Never happened with my Nokia.
OPTIONS ON THE PHONE
There is plenty to study and learn but it all seem quite complicated for me. But if you are into all that there is internal memory of 3MB and room for 500 phone book entries. You get some games, there is a calculator. No music. You can get your own ringtones (may cost you!) You even will have the voice recorder. You can switch the language to French or Spanish. There is a speaker phone option but sound quality on that is horrible.
The manual says about the Battery Performance:
Stand-by Time: 250 hours
Talk Time: 270 minutes
