Not good for dubbing from a camcorder

I bought this Samsung DVD-VR357 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo specifically to dub my camcorder (Sony) home videos to DVD. It was easy to set up and record, however after viewing the DVD, it looked like a bad Godzilla movie (all the voices were off by several seconds). Samsung has a good phone support crew (they speak English, and seem to know their stuff). The diagnosed this as being a bad unit. I returned it to the store and got another, it has the same problem. I also noticed this showed up when trying to dub regular VHS tapes via the internal dubbing as well. I will be taking this one back, I guess its time to pay a little more for a Sony.
