The Bottom Line:
If you are looking for a 47-48" projection TV I would highly recommend this model. It has a number of advanced features yet has a reasonable price.
I recently purchased this TV from Cambridge Sound works. They matched the price BestBuy had for the HCL4715W - a slightly different model. So far I am very pleased with this TV. I am using it primarily with a progressive scan DVD player and the picture is fantastic! The picture is very bright, sharp and has high color intensity. I love the wide-screen format and am very impressed with the ability of the "Panorama" mode to stretch normal 3:5 video to the 16:9 format.
I initally was going to get the 47" Panasonic model (PT-47WX42) but was concerned the the Panasonic did not include a screen shield. Then I looked at the HCL4715W at BestBuy and was very impressed. The sales person there (who actually seemed very knowledgeable) recommended the Samsung. He pointed out the advantage of the auto-convergence feature. Then I saw this model (the HCL473W) at Cambridge and was even more impressed!
The HCL473W has a number of added features compared to the HCL4715W: Higher output CRT's (RealFlect HD Fine Focus System), finer pitch screen, 3D Y/C comb filter, higher output, 3 speaker audio (45 watt) with built-in Dolby ProLogic. Plus it has the component shelf with hinged glass door. This is great for an add-on HDTV receiver (which I have not yet purchased), or DVD player.
The unit was delivered by the store and took little effort to set up - here's where the auto-convergence comes in handy! Many will be happy to know that the unit is on casters so its very easy to move.
All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.
