Color Wheel Shatters 3 weeks after warranty expires

I purchased a Samsung HL-R6167W 61" DLP HDTV Sept. 3, 2005, from SEARS, and a 3-yr. warranty for $500. Exactly 3 weeks after the warranty expired, Sept. 24, 2008, the color wheel shattered. Sears wanted another $99 to come out and look at it. I called another repair service who came out for $65 and told me about the color wheel. He called back a few days later and said there was a national recall on these wheels and had to put it on back-order. This was 9/26/08. I called him on 12/16/08 he said he would check with the parts store and call back. Now it's 12/25/08 and I still haven't heard from him. Can someone PLEASE tell me what is going on with these wheels and where I can get one? I'm a single female but am willing to give it a try to be able to watch TV again.
