Fantastic Picture Quality
Pros
Picture quality for both HD and non-HD programming. Cabinet style and size. Cost.
Cons
The system is light, and the weight distribution makes it feel a little rickety.

The Bottom Line:
I recommend this set to anyone. It's priced well compared to other vendors and it has excellent picture quality in both HD and non-HD programming.
I recently purchased the Samsung HLS7178W DLP TV and I absolutely LOVE it! I first saw this set at one of my local stores and the picture quality was not that impressive on regular cable; but was incredible when showing a DVD. I wasn't able to find any reviews on this set anywhere on the net, but decided to base my decision on the fact that Samsung has a good reputation for the slightly smaller DLP sets. I am not disappointed in my choice one bit. This set is incredible for picture quality and style. It is not riddled with features, but that was not my goal to find a TV with a million options. It has plenty of input connections; although only 2 HDMI inputs which I will probably outgrow at some point. I'm hoping the future brings an inexpensive HDMI switch box to easily let my kids flip between video games, DVD players and the satellite box.
The Good: Picture quality is outstanding. I would rate it a 9.5 out of 10 when watching an HD broadcast program. The only reason not to give it a 10 here is the fact that when the camera zooms out to show a larger area of the court during a basketball game, the players do get a little blurry; especially when the speed of play is quick. Otherwise, I've seen nothing in HD that wasn't perfect.
More Good: Picture quality for non-HD programming is surprisingly good. Much better than expected, I would rate it an 8.5 out of 10. I chose not "stretch" the picture to simulate HD because I think the picture looks distorted when you do this. I much prefer the 16:9 size to the "wide-fit". You end up with some unused black space on each side of the picture, but the picture is still large and very crisp and clear. At some point everything will be HD and this problem will go away. I am using DirecTV for my source, so I don't know what to expect from a standard cable for your picture quality; but I highly recommend this set in combination with a satellite system.
The Bad: It's honestly hard to come up with anything bad. The only thing I can come up with is that since this set is so light it feels like it could topple over if something were to bump into it. I actually appreciate the light-weight design because I know I can move it around to connect new input devices fairly easily, but the weight distribution does make it feel a little rickety on my entertainment center.
Overall: This set is priced well compared to other vendors, it has excellent picture quality in HD and non-HD programming. The X-Box 360 looks incredible on it. The picture is bright and easy to see at any angle in my house, it's not noisy at all, and the style of the set is very impressive. There are no bulky speakers sticking out the sides which makes it easier to place in a large cabinet. I totally recommend this set to anyone; it has a fantastic WOW factor but doesn't hurt you quite as much in the wallet.
