Best picture for the price if you don't need a flatscreen
I had my heart set on the Sony KDS-50A3000 sXRD rear-projection TV. Good TV - HORRIBLE NOISES
The HL-T5087 should be a good tv. It has excellent color, deep blacks and a quick response time. But the devil is in ONE detail that Samsung's customer service has admitted is a KNOWN problem: the noise the LED light engine makes. Now I'm not a stickler for this stuff. I sleep through garbage... This TV is awesome!
We did a lot of comparison shopping before deciding on the Samsung HL-T5087S. We compared the pros and cons of LCD, plasma, and DLP. We were concerned with the burn in problem with plasma and the motion blur with LCD. The DLP technology in this TV is 1080p, with is the highest resolution available... Read full review »
BEST 50" DLP available today
This is the opinion of an admitted GadgetAholic. One reason I live in Vegas is so I can attend CES (Consumer Electronics Show) every year and see all the new toys before they hit store shelves.

Good Picture Poor sound
The internal speakers produce a Buzzing noise at anuthing above very low volume. I think this is beccause of the thin plastic shell that this TV is enclosed in.
I wind up playing the sound through my stereo more and more often because I can not stand the quality of the cound from this...
