The Bottom Line:
Good picture, but not worth the headache if something goes wrong.
I bought the TV in Feb 2008 and it worked well for about 6 months. Problem started when the tv stopped working, no picture at all, and dealing with Samsung was, and still is a nightmare. They first claimed it wasn't under warranty because it was a refurbished TV. After a couple of weeks of research, they finally said someone on their end transposed some letters in the model/serial number combination, and they agreed that it was sold as a new TV. I took a day off from work for the repair guy, 10am -5pm was the window I was given. He replaced some parts, still doesn't work. Repair person orders more parts and 2 weeks later, and another day off from work, replaces those parts, still doesn't work. Says Samsung will exchange the tv, that was about 4 weeks ago and still no TV. Samsung now says they don't have that model on hand so I need to fax my bill of sale and they will refund my money. Now I will have to take another day off for the delivery people to come get the tv and I'm still without a tv. I asked if they would exchange it for a 52" LCD, and they told me I would have to send them $600.00, because the LCD model is more expensive. I can buy that same LCD from a store for less than $300.00 more than I paid for my TV, so they are trying to screw me even on that.
I've spoken to customer service at least 15 times and when I asked to speak to someone in management, they told me to write a letter.
