Terrific 720P plasma television.

Pros Superior high and extended def picture in color, sharpness and overall image
Cons programming of tuner and fav. stations could be easier
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  At least for the price paid, you get a 50 inch set that plays drop dead gorgeous for its intended purpose. You see your movies in a whole new light.
Outstanding picture quality on well transmitted high def tv stations. Standard def over analog channels is fair but watchable. Stadard Def from digital channels vary.

Wide screen standard dvds from older DV-37 Elite dvd player via component in 480P progressive scan were superb. Used upconverting magnavox BDP170MW8 upconverting dvd player set at 720P and 1080I with HDMI cable. Picture quality from DVDs was nothing short of outrageous with superior color quality and sharpness on this set.

Great access menus to adjust tv set, though the unit played well out of the box.

Sound has been an issue with some buyers, but I found the built in tv sound to be theaterlike. There are choices for the type of sound you want like music, voice, or music which bolsters up the sound from the set. Has SRS-T for psuedo surround that works rather well.

The tuner does take a long time to program channels.

The remote is IMHO fine to use; perhaps some sets have better remotes but this one did not phase me at all.

Picture quality has great "image liveliness", sort of the equivalent to "presence" in audio. Far better IMHO than most on the market and reminiscent of some tube color tvs that I saw play over the years.

Blacks are fine. Colors are rich and seem accurate.

HDMI cable did carry sound from upconverted dvd player to tv set.

Untested were S-vhs, composite game and computer input. Untested was optical output to a 5.1 channel receiver.
