The touch screen freezes sometimes but it does everything I need.

Pros Lock button, able to access GMAIL account, battery life lasts through massive texting
Cons Touch screen freezes up, GPS doesn't work all the time, Web can run slow.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I recommend this phone. It works, has a LOCK, access to EMAIL, and battery life is two days.  I found a stylish Burberry plaid skin that protects.
I bought this product because I dropped my phone in a toilet and needed a new phone quick!  Touch screen is all the rage and I was able to get the pink Samsung Instinct at a Sprint store for $40 after all the rebates and renewing a contract (I understand not everyone likes to do this). This phone has all the capabilities of other phones, but it is not as reliable.  I am able to access websites (which I normally do some facebooking while on break at work!), GPS, emails, shopping, ringtone download, there are games and apps available. I play pacman wayyyy to much on this thing.
However, it is unreliable.  The GPS works when it "feels like it."  It seems to never want to work when I need it to so this is a big problem with the Instinct!  Also, the web is slow and can cut out every once in a while.  That is annoying.  The worst thing about the Instinct is that is tends to freeze up.  I have to restart the phone in order to get it unfrozen.
I love the fact that I can access my GMAIL account.  It always works and is up to date on my current emails.  However, you do have to manually delete old emails to make space for new emails which can be time consuming.  Also, you can add multiple email accounts.  I had my yahoo account linked a while ago.  I took it off because I didn't want to read a bunch of emails all day.
Texting capabilities are the same as any other phone.  The only problem is with the touch screen you "can't feel the keys" so at first I made a lot of typing errors. There is a vibrate feature that you can turn on and the phone will vibrate as you touch the keys.  This has helped me a lot and does not make as noise like some other phones out there. Picture mail lags slow, but I do get pictures.
Dialing, Saving #s, and voicemail is easy to do on the touch screen. The scrolling feature makes looking through your contacts a breeze!
There is a lock so that touch screen disables when locked (no more butt dialing!).  Also, I put a security code lock on mine that way no one can snoop around in my phone, but most people don't know how to turn it on in the first place lol.  The lock button is located at the top of the phone.
I received an extra battery which comes in handy when I run out of battery and need a quick fix.  There is also a cigarette lighter that I use most of the time.  A full battery can last me about two days if I only use it for light conversation and tons of texting.  Games run it low fast so be careful with that.
I was able to purchase a skin for mine Instinct and I love the pink color.  This phone isn't the best phone on the market....but I don't particular need a super fancy phone. For people who do, then I would choose an Iphone or a Storm.  For people who just need a phone for basic capabilities, games, texting, dialing, email, and a GPS that works sometimes then this is a good phone.  Make sure you get the rebate!
