Exceeds Expectations

Pros Excellent picture.
Cons None.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Strongly recommend Samsung LCD Tvs because of picture quality.
I selected a Samsung LCD TV after seeing our daughter's 40" Samsung and our son's 52" Samsung.  This LN46B640 is excellent in every respect except sound.  The colors are vibrant and the picture is sharp.  It is better than I had hoped it would be in every respect, and far better than movies in a theater.

About the sound, it is still quite good for a TV.  But for watching movies, particularly Blu-Ray on our Panasonic DMP-BD60, I connect the DVD player via optical cable to our surround sound system (Onkyo and Polk).  That combination is far superior.

I was concerned about the HDMI-CEC feature when connected to the Panasonic Blu-Ray player.  IT WORKS, at least partially.  HDMI-CEC works only with HDMI connected components.  When I turn on the DVD player, insert a DVD, and press "play", a signal is sent to the Samsung TV, turning on the TV and switching the source to the DVD player.  Unfortunately, when I'm done with the DVD and turn it off, the Samsung TV remains on and still switched to the DVD player.  There may be some was for me to fix this that I haven't found yet.

A note about HDMI cables.  Avoid buying the name brand cables.  They are not better than the basic cables available on the internet. Being unsure of where we wanted to place the TV, cablebox, and DVD player, and changing our minds several times, I bought different length cables, 3', 6', and 15'... paid less than $6 per cable.  Paying over $15 per cable is not necessary.

When you consider purchasing an LCD TV, make sure it supports 1080i and at least 120 Hz.  I strongly recommend a Samsung.
