Samsung's Maxima 70GL was a good purchase
Pros
lightwieght, easy to use, stylish, flash, zoom, date/time stamp...
Cons
loading the darn film.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
A cute little camera that takes great pictures...what more do you want? I used it with my labor/delivery photos, it's very trustworthy!
This snazzy looking Samsung camera was a gift from my father. It was my first semi-nice, semi-expensive camera. I was used to cheap ones from Wal-Mart that broke soon after the purchase. I am really impressed on how long this one is holding up. (I am pretty ruff on my stuff. Anyway, let me tell you about my camera. I lost my directions booklet that came with the camera but I will do my best on describing it and what I do and don't like about the item.
Features:
The camera takes 35 mm film. It has a 38-70 mm power zoom.
The Samsung Maxima Zoom 70GL has automatic film loading, advancing and rewinding. There is also a option of mid-roll film rewind. This is really handy if you need to get the film developed real quick...I think it's a real waste of film so I have not used this option. The camera has a built in flash. You can have it on automatic or you can turn the flash off. There is a place where you can put the camera on a tripod. The camera has a self-timer that is 10 seconds and has a 2-sec. delayed shutter. You can choose to have the date/time stamp on your photos. The camera has a really nifty red-eye reduction feature also. There is a auto focus on the camera. The camera takes a 3-volt lithium battery. There is a auto power off, after three minutes it shuts down if you haven't used it.
What I love about this camera:
I really like the built in flash. I always have it on automatic. I love the zoom feature and there is like this square in the very middle of the screen when you look in it. When taking pictures it is very helpful in centering whatever your trying to take a picture of (like if you want a person's face in the middle of the photo you put the square on the face) The automatic film rewinding and advancing is really convenient. The digital display is easy to read and even though I lost my instruction book after only having the camera a week or so I can still figure out a lot of the "complicated" features. (the self timer). The camera is very lightweight and has been very durable. I have dropped it a few times and it has taken the beating.
In addition, the camera is cute looking. My camera is a really cool silver/metallic color.
What I hate about this camera:
Well, I only have one complaint and that is how hard it is to load the film. It takes forever and many tries before I can get it loaded and ready. The error warning that blinks when the film is not loaded right is very annoying and it is hard to control your temper when it keeps blinking at you!
(haha, just kidding). I hope I never have to load the camera on short notice. It is not just me either, my husband has had problems and so has my dad. (with loading the film) but other than the film loading thing that is my only complaint!
My final recommendation and thoughts:
I would recommend this camera for vacations and amateur photographers. The camera is relatively inexpensive compared to other brands and the pictures come out sharp, clear, and crisp! I really like the ease of using the camera and I would recommend it to all!
Thanks for reading my review. Short, sweet, and to the point... (and written while the little one was sleeping!)
