This is one of the best little point and shoots I've ever used in all of my photography years. The Samsung Maxima Zoom 70GL was a Christmas gift to my wife since she wanted to shoot stuff when I go out with my heavy duty Canon, instead of waiting in the car for me. I originally wanted to get an Elph simply because of it's size, definitely not for the price, however. The Samsung is still pretty compact and much more durable than the Elph not to mention about a third of the price.
The 38 - 70 mm built-in zoom offers an easy one touch access to close ups or wide views for landscapes or just getting the big picture. Another nice feature is the red eye reduction when using the flash. The little bugger even comes with a handy tripod mount for shaky trigger fingers. A big fear I had was if the digital calendar would register Y2K. Sure enough, it did!
For under a hundred bucks, this little camera is perfect for the most casual of shutterbugs
