Stunning picture, excellent value!!

Pros Georgeous picture, pixel shift technology, price
Cons None to speak of.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Do your research, find the best price.  Satsifaction guaranteed with this unit!
We were looking for a TV for the family room. One that we could watch videos on, play the Wii, and one that I could sneak away and watch the game while the family is watching TV.
Being our third TV, we were absolutely budget conscious, but having two Samsung flat panels already, we really wanted to stick with Samsung. Originally, we were trying to shy away from Plasma, to avoid the burn in issue (kids tend to leave the TV on, paused, and walk away....).
However, after MUCH research, reading many reviews, looking at many other low quality (in my opinion) TV's (Dynex, Phillips, Insignia), I found this on Amazon for $867, free shipping.....how could I refuse.
Set up, as with most Samsungs, very easy, up and running in about 5 minutes.
The picture is stunning, period. With the Satellite HD service, I think the colors are richer than the LN46A750. You will have to lower the blazing, factory set picture settings to really bring out the clarity. The picture settings are pretty standard for the Samsungs and with a little fine tuning, you will get the desired result.
There are three main settings; Dynamic, Standard, and Movie.
Dynamic is the blazing, ridiculous setting but if you lower the back light to 3 and adjust the Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness, Contrast and Color to 50% this is a good bright pic.
Standard, to me, is the best setting; lower the back light to 5 and adjust the Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness, Contrast and Color to 60% this is very nice, normal, eye appealing pic.
Movie is just that, kind of dark with a soft, yet very clear pic: lower the back light to 6 and adjust the Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness, Contrast and Color to 60% this is a good bright pic.
Dynamic I would use for Sports, Standard or Movie for the Wii, Standard for every day use at the above settings.
There are also Game and Sport settings which you can choose, but you cannot fine tune these and to me, better off left alone.
I did mention in the beginning, we were not really looking for a Plasma and really concerned about burn in, typical of any Plasma. This TV has a few things to combat that.
Pixel Shift technology lets you activate this, which will shift the screen around horizontally and vertically, this way a stationary image is never in the same place - reducing the chance for burn in.
In the case where burn in may occur, there is an All White and Black to White Scrolling screensaver that will remove just about anything that may have been retained on your screen.
Now, if you play Rock Band for many hours, YOU WILL have image retention from the stationary bars - I have seen it. However, IMAGE RETENTION, not burn in...running the scrolling feature I mentioned above for a few hours takes it out. This TV needs care, as long as there is not a stationary pic on the TV FOR HOURS, you will be fine.
I have four kids, the Wii is on all day, no image retention.
We are very happy with this TV, the picture is stunning, and I am a brand loyal Samsung customer. To me there is no equal to their product, the TV's picture will speak for itself. Do your research, find the best price, you will be very glad you did.
