Samsung Rugby: tough to break
Pros
It can really take a beating.
Cons
Does not wake up from power-save mode by hitting a side button.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This is a work phone for a tough job.
The Samsung Rugby has a damage-resistant exterior, a large outer speaker and features Push to Talk and Video Share calling. Also, it has a camera and is GPS and Bluetooth capable.
The best feature about this phone is that it can really take a beating. It's built to withstand dust, shock, vibration, rain, and extreme temperature. The large speaker on the front is also a convenient feature when using the Push to Talk service.
One thing that I do not like is that while most phones can wake up from power-save mode by hitting a side button, this one does not. So, I could not see a missed call or check the time by just hitting volume buttons or another side button. The only way to light up the front screen is to open the phone, which is pretty annoying.
The bottom line is that the Samsung Rugby is a good phone for people who need something that can withstand abuse. But do not buy this phone just because you are butterfingers and drop your phone often. This is a work phone for a tough job, like a construction worker or a policeman who needs a tough, hard to break exterior.
