Use this baby with DVI-D connection and You'll be satisfied

Pros Super brightness,contrast&colors,fast,very black "black",huge desktop,super-cheap,up-down slider
Cons Bad result when connected via Analogue. Horisontal angle view distorts collor temperature after 15 degrees.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  For small ammount of money You get LCD-WideScreen with great speed,brightness&contrast&colors-simply super!
When I first purchased the monitor (just the X-mass that is over - 2006), I was angry at my self for buying it so fast.. That morning family decided they'll buy my LCD monitor and I wanted it the same day... Since I have 2 monitors on my desk (doing Video/Audio editing, Graphics etc), I wanted Wide Screen...

However when I plugged it in there was no end to my disappointment (it was plugged via analogue D-SUB 15 cable)... Colors, brightness, contrast, sharpness - everything was so lame - so bad compared to the 2nd of my CRT monitors that stayed on the desk (Samsung's greatest SM 19" 959NF..) Of course - I didn't expect the new LCD monitor to give me the same result, but soooo different with so un-sharp letters under icons (in all resolutions and refresh rates) and video was unwatchable...
Then I suddenly started noticing some vertical bars going on and off and flickering and figured out that maybe the unit wasn't ok... Went back to store, got me a new unit - that one I didn't even try to plug via analogue cable, I went straight for digital DVI-D connection... and WOW --- totally different story... Great quality of everything... only little thing I can say that it is minus is that you must sit in front of monitor to get realistic picture... Horizontally, everything that You look from more then 15 degrees left or right from monitor adds more and more warm (yellow/reddish) cast to the picture)...

I even succeeded in what I thought was impossible! I made the picture look almost 100% same on both CRT SM 959NF and new 940BW... Of course they act different, but when I turn my comp on - You have two monitors with same cast of blue, same brightness, sharpness etc... Video really looks great (I was sure it'll be the worst thing - I already made peace with my self that I will be using 940BW just for various tool tracks, timelines etc, and the video will be played on good old CRT... And beyond those 2 monitors, I also have (as it is common in video editing studio) CRT control-monitor (it can be very dedicated professional calibrated thing, but it can be just a plain TV-set, as it is in my case...

Why am I bringing this up now???

Well, since I hooked up the new 940BW, I hardly turn it on any more...

Cause there is soooo much space on this great LCD monitor, that I can manage to put all I need on the desktop, and CRT 959NF I use as external monitor, just for final picture (and dragging it to the LCD as often as I can, cause there it is more alive)...

I am doing professional things for national TV broadcast, documentaries that hit festivals, commercials, music clips that appear in broadcast very often... And I must say that it can sound un-professional from my point of business to buy such a cheap monitor. But I just don't see why would I give more money cause this one is just perfect. But, don't forget it.. ONLY ON DIGITAL (DVI-D) connection!!!
If your graphic card can't handle DVI, You better buy a new graphic card. And this monitor as well...

I bought it more as test toy - my next step is buying another one and putting it next to the one already there, when I will definitely say goodbye to my beloved 959NF (which I swore I never will change for some "lame thin" LCD)...

Get it, use it via Digital connection and you will enjoy it!

My grade is 4.9 out of 5 (this 0.1 is for that horizontal angle distortion of color temperature with relatively very small out-of-center position)
