For under $250 you can't beat it. Try buying another Mini-DV camcorder with Firewire anywhere else for this price.
This is a basic Mini-DV camcorder that offers Firewire and decent picture quality. Great for starters or someone on a budget. You can transfer the video into the computer for editing. That's one of the main convenience with this camcorder. I also use this camcorder to transfer video taken from my other (higher end) camcorder. It saves wear and tear of the heads on my other camcorder.
Overall I like this camcorder since I can bring it with me anywhere without worrying too much about getting it damaged or stolen.
I won't compare this to higher end Mini-DV camcorder costing $1000 or more. That would be like comparing a Toyota Echo to a Porsche. However, both serve the same purpose of taking you from point A to B.
