Durable and easy to use for a low price
Pros
Built tough, nice features and effects, long zoom
Cons
AC adapter broke, short-lived battery
Recommended it?
Yes
Now that digital camcorders have taken over, analog Hi-8s are going out of style; however, I still use mine. The good:
I purchased this camera in March of 03 and it works just as well as it did new. The camera is pretty solid and I believe will last many more years for me. The included battery only lasts about 1/2 hour but you can purchase a long life battery for it. The image stabilization feature and LCD screen are phenomenal. The camera also comes with many effects like, black and white, ghost and mirror image. I also bought a TV card for my computer so I can record live video from the air waves for my camera and turn them into digital videos on my computer (which also saves me a lot of tapes).
The bad:
Not so many. Comes with a short-lived battery; don't use the LCD screen, it eats batteries for lunch. The AC adapter broke and I had to get a battery charger, which is somewhat annoying.
Over all great product for those who like to live with late 90s technology.
